This endeavor began with a simple idea…to tell the story of how a team was able to change the face of a franchise.  The unknown outcome posed an incredible risk because, at the time, there were plenty of people against the idea of changing the fundamentals of God of War. But, underneath all of this was an even more compelling story. Raising Kratos chronicles the regular, everyday people who came together with a shared passion and did everything in their power to get to the finish line. 

Anchored with key pillars like family, legacy and loyalty, this film takes an intimate look into one of PlayStation’s most influential development studios. Before being the team that made the game of the year, they were a studio in need of a second chance.

Unable to escape the throws of sacrifice, struggle, and doubt, Santa Monica Studio buckled down and overcame incredible adversity. After spending three intense years in production and shooting hundreds of hours’ worth of footage, it became quite clear that Santa Monica Studio was functioning from a place of love and dedication. From their individual families at home, to the support of their dedicated fans, the God of War team’s simple goal was to create something everyone could be proud of.

The hope is that, once people see the true heart of Santa Monica Studio unfold on the screen, they will recognize the unrelenting passion these visionaries have for their work and the incredible respect they have for their craft. We are extremely excited to share this film and  it is with great pride that we present Raising Kratos.
